Research program and project partnerships

Training and education

  • Curtin University delivers the Associate Degree in Agribusiness; utilising the Muresk farm for soil carbon capping, for students to undertake soil and water sampling, and to collect soil for use in greenhouse trials.
  • Central Regional TAFE delivers the Certificate III in Agricultural Mechanical Technology and various short courses for the public throughout the year.
  • Australian Wool Innovation delivers crutching, novice shearer, and wool handler training out of our industry-standard shearing shed.
  • Our state-of-the-art Agricultural Machinery Training Centre (AMTC) is utilised by national and international agricultural machinery manufacturers and rural dealerships for staff product training and client demonstration days.
  • Delivery of the Animal Welfare in Emergencies training program in association with the WA Local Government Association (WALGA) and the WA Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD).
  • Inside Outside Management delivers a four-week course on Holistic Management.
  • More than 750 WA school students engaged with agriculture as a viable career option through school visits and career days.

Research program and project partnerships

  • The Mulloon Institute is implementing a Landscape Rehydration planning project on the Muresk farm.
  • Muresk has partnered with WA Stud Merino Breeders for a Sire Evaluation Program.
  • Dohne Breeders have donated 200 Dohne ewes for training purposes and hands on student work experience here on Muresk farm.

Additionally, Muresk is continuing our rich history of agriculture research, supporting a range of ongoing on site research partnership projects in collaboration with some of WA's industry leaders.

These innovative projects include:

  • Milne Agrigroup feed efficiency trials;
  • CSBP Fertilisers soil mapping using the Decipher platform;
  • a variety of agronomy trials with the WA Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD); and
  • research into cereal disease, nutrient response, herbicide tolerance, herbicide efficacy and good laboratory practice with Kalyx.
